Unbeknownst to the inhabitants of the land above, the sea floor was home to a vast empire by the name of Erebonia. Ruled by a fair empress, its lands were divided amongst various noble houses who all ultimately owed homage to her. Peace was kept across the land by both the Imperial Army out of the capital and assorted orders of knights belonging to said noble houses. This was such the case in one of the empire's outer marches. Situated close to land, it fell under the protection of the Arseid family which faithfully served the Imperial throne for untold generations. The current Viscountess, Laura S. Arseid, was intent on upholding the long history of stewardship bestowed upon her family.
